A millionbillionwillion miles from home
Waiting for the bell to go. (To go where?)
Why are they all so big, other children?

Reminds me of my first day at school. It was in 2004 and I was so excited., But I ended up crying because other kids were crying. We. were crying for our parents. An. I have always been the smallest kid in my class. (Report) Reply

    First Year in School.
First year in school I was five years old. In some matters I was smart. I remember fleecing a friend of lot of money, walking outside the school and buying lots of ice cream and buns and treating all my friends. That money was meant for the school bursar and I don't remember what happened after that. I met that friend after 55 years and paid him back. I had learnt the power of money. I some matters I was stupid. I didn't know that the school had lots of toilets with maids attending You know what happened one day; it happens to many baby students. (Report) Reply

Quirky in it's originality. Finger-on-the-button imagry relative to that TREMBLY day! !
Only MacGough could summon such vividly off kilter sentiments. Evident in ALL His stuff! !

The first day in the school has a lasting impression in the life of a child. It may be a mixed feelings of happiness, fear and imagination. The poem is a lovely read with some interesting lines expressing the child's impression about the school, teacher and lessons. (Report) Reply

It has been a great fun to read the poem. It reminds me of my days, though not essentially the first one, spent in my school. The imagery is just wonderful. To quote a few lines will make it clear:
Must have been born in uniform / And the railings / All around, the railings / Are they to keep out wolves and monsters? ... / Tea-cher. The one who makes the tea.
