Fire Like Love Poem by Kimberly Knott

Fire Like Love

Rating: 5.0

We met as children and mindless teens
It was a fire-like-love quickly but briefly seen
We fell in love at first sight
Every time you touched me my heart took literal flight
We lost touch forever after our fire was blown by someone different than ourselves
Wishing to tear us away, putting it away on sad shelves
Over a year later the spark is flaming once more
She felt stupid for letting him go since she loved him to the core
With love found again they fell in love unexplained
And they were never seen again

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My ex and I met as teenagers and were broken up by his parents and lost touch. Making contact again over a year ago with my lover, the fire was recreated.
