Fire Eater Poem by Sarah Kennedy

Fire Eater

The enormous blaze of lust is but

A ferocious fire that drives the fools heart

Toward the kiss ached for

And delirious perfume of an embrace

A secret champagne caress

The fevered desire for moist flesh

A turgid hunger

That flares and then fades

To a bitter flicker

Love's repulsive shadow
