Fingerprints Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Fingerprints

Rating: 5.0

All night
the candle
creates & uncreates
our bodies

here a breast
flickers
into life
there a hand
vanishing out of sight

thigh
upon
thing
here a cry
there a sigh

forming &
unforming
our love
making

half shadow...half light
the hot
wax

taking our fingerprints
as if
we were suspects

stolen
time
we peel off
our fingerprints

I wear yours
you wear mine
my fingerpritns found
all over your body

(guess I am guilty)
|I press
my fingerprint
into yours

so that
the whorls
combine
joined
in the seal

of our desire
we both
now

one
&
the other
lost
in our flickering laughter.
