Finding Closure Poem by Elizabeth Walker

Finding Closure

Heaven's gates had opened and I saw light shining through,
I had looked for so long not realizing it was you
now knowing Heaven is real and I've tasted of its bliss
everyday I'll go on knowing what I'll miss
none can give to me the knowledge you bestow
I reached new heights daily, from a seed you watched me grow
so caring and nurturing yet with a stern hand I was led
always there to fall back on for advice, out of your hand I was fed
I would wait a thousand lifetimes if I thought the day would come
you said you loved me, I always marched to the beat of your drum
anything you asked of me, just whisper in my ear
I would give you every morsel of me, blood, sweat and tears.
