Filthy Lucre Poem by John Thorkild Ellison

Filthy Lucre

I walked right into this with open eyes
But I'll never get the love I hunger for,
I know it's all my fault, I realise
You took my money and you told no lies.
I wanted to give everything to you,
But I'm not allowed to kiss or even touch!
It can't go on, I'm spending more and more,
And I'm to blame, for wanting you too much,
I tried to give you everything and even dreamed
One day you'd change and you would love me too,
What a simple, naive fool I must have seemed! !
The time has come for me to call a halt
But do not worry, love, it's not your fault,
It's just an illness deep within my mind,
As everybody knows, true love is blind! !
