Fields Of Gold Poem by Stephanie Dower

Fields Of Gold

Rating: 5.0

Tears fall from above and drum somberly,
The angel darkens with the skies.
Words fade into the wind,
A single rose reflected in my eyes.
I remember a time when the sun shone,
And your smile was a gift to me.
Your voice could sooth, your touch could heal.
Your presence set me free.
You were the colour in a black and white world.
That laughter thawed the ice.
Now you walk in tunnel of darkness
Now you pay the price.
Journey in death to fields of gold,
Where you may dance on the wing.
Colour returned to those pale cheeks,
And light the heavens when you sing.
The thunder rolls over the clouds,
The chill crawls into bone.
The angel prays. The wind whistles across,
The darkened moss covered stone.
