Festival Deepavali Poem by Indira Renganathan

Festival Deepavali

Aurora risen significant
Out of a demon's eternal sleep
Embedded in a gory sanguinary
Effused a spirit of renaissance
Long ago
Narakaasura slain; Lord Vishnu
Verged on revived merriment
Plunged in sacred Ganges
The people anointed, abluted
Every water Gangetic in new colours
And colourful sparkling mottling the skies
Gorgeously over a feasting spree
A day of recurrent remembrance
