Feathers Poem by Leslie Ching

Feathers

Rating: 3.8

Hope might be the thing with feathers*
But of virtue it's not the only thing-
Strength would have eagle's claws,
Love would possess angle's wings-

Respect, a humble and bowed head
Courage, a heart made of steel
Truth, a clear and golden eye
Sympathy, hands to heal

Beauty, a sea-green peakcock's tail
Liberation with her torch held high**
Joy always has the fairest face
Faith with Constance rule the sky...

*Read Emily Dickinson's 'Hope is the Thing With Feathers'
**Based on the Statue of Liberty in New York, U.S.A.
