Fear Of Falling Poem by Sierra Staten

Fear Of Falling

It's kind of like when you stick your finger in a light socket,
And a shock ripples through your body.
Then, everything is clear,
And you understand why your parents told you not to.
It's sort of like when you look at the sun,
And there's beauty and light in the first instant,
But then there are just black spots and pain,
And you understand why it's bad for your eyes.
It's almost like when you're falling,
And you feel weightless
Until you hit the pavement and cut your knee.
Then, you live in constant fear of falling,
But you meet that one guy,
And you can't help but take a chance.
You fall.
He shocks you;
He burns you,
But he doesn't catch you.
