Father, May I?

  humbled disposition
a perspective inspired of
weakened knees and misdirected
faces of truth forgotten in
young eyes long since shed
in an old gaze
sacrifice is rendered empty
consequence beguiled moot
fury withheld unquestionably
by strength that knows no child
morose are words unspoken
when conveyance is cheated
by condescension of blind focus
as unconscious grievance heeds
not actions scrutinized but heart
that flows not one self-obliging drop
as a minute undoes all
forgiveness beckons fangs
reassurance bleeds us dry

Insightful. All of these feelings exist in many of the father/son relationships I have observed (my son, my husband...) the style of the poem perfectly shows the confusion of emotions, often juxtaposed.. WOW.
