Fatal Ambition Poem by Cory Fox

Fatal Ambition

The many led by few
Sets me apart from you
And everyone who lacks one keen desire
For the one wealth to find
The awesome spark of mind
To break away and set the world on fire

My call to seize the day
My light to lead the way
My wings to carry me up off the street
Where man is so content
To let his days be spent
But such a fate I swear I'll never meet!

The price I have to pay
Will drain my life away
But it's a sacrifice that I must make
When I never see the sun
When I'm dead to everyone
Just how much more of myself will this take?

For better or worse
My blessing and my curse
From another masterpiece I'm set free
If I should lose my soul
How bittersweet a goal
Just permit me this one hypocrisy...
