Fast Lane Poem by Jayne Downing

Fast Lane

Rush, push, punch to make it to the top
You know their name, their rank, perused their file
But never read their face
You mail with e, not post, impose your strength
And don’t care who you squash.
You lost your love, and friends have fled
With teeth marks in their back
But you don’t care.

Brush, crush, crunch to be the cream of the crop
You have ID, a PIN and password too
But never use your name
You like to fire, not hire, and watch them cry
It lets them know who’s boss
Your house is cold with lonely nights
And ready meals for one
But you don’t care
Do you?
