Farewell Lucky Ideozu Poem by Chris Jibero

Farewell Lucky Ideozu

Life is encapsulated in breath
That comes and goes as it wills
So brief with its calls
Shorter but hotter
Than a skimpy g-string
Occupying a limited space
And prone to melt fast
On the wide wild waist
Of a notorious bawd
And swifter than a supersonic spacecraft
Impalpable and void like pitch darkness
And inconsiderate of man's many goals

Though life is good and pleasant
It bubbles and vanishes like hydrogen peroxide
Poured on a bleeding wound
Lucky, I had wished you were a bit luckier
By tarrying here a little longer
To reap the enduring fruit of love
Which you had carefully sown
On all the paths you had passed
And to see Mutuayo, Manuwa and Munnem
The seeds and strength of your youth blossom
As you had adroitly planned

Lucky, your sudden departure
Is a bad blow too many
That has left many jaws sagging
Agape and smarting
With deep-seated pains
Shock and trepidation
And bitter taste in our mouths

But because nobody is fit
To ask God why
The sudden recall was made
When we needed you most
I pause seething with sadness
But may I add
That as you are interred with your good heart
Fare thee well
In the bountiful bosom
Of the faithful Almighty
Who certainly rewards all deeds
Good and bad
Open and concealed
Adieu my friend and my brother.
