Far Beyond The Reach Poem by Anees Rahman

Far Beyond The Reach

Far beyond the reach, I sailed
Upon my broken raft, I sailed
Destinations beyond imaginations, I sailed.

Came in front, the twin gates
The gates of literacy & ignorance
Upon the feathers, I laid my foot.
'PLEASURE'.......was all that I felt
The stars & the clouds taught me smile
Cheating & betrayal was far a mile

Again came the twin gates
The gates of loyalty & betrayal
My Dreams..............My Aims.......!

Upon the dirt, I laid my foot
Betrayal became my political friend
And I followed the same trend
Those Roses.......My love.......
But never did my eyes turn in vain
Politics, was then, what I aimed
The red black clouds, blamed
But, inside, deep inside, I was lamed
I heard the echo, loud and hard
'HELP............HELP.........HELP'

Upon the thorns, I laid my foot,
Power and fame filled my eyes,
Those with their lusts smiled
Their smile was a bit mild
All I had was to blow their dusts
To be the best among the best

I smiled at them grinding my teethes
My dark mighty feathers ruled upon them
With all my power I reigned upon them
The crooked & the cowards became my slaves'

Upon the fire I laid my foot
The 'PLEASURE'.......that I feel
Oh God.......'.had I chosen the gateway of ignorance-
Freedom justice & loyalty would have been in my reach'
But now, these illusions.......
Are far…..very far beyond my reach
