Familiar Stranger Poem by Arnie Hicks

Familiar Stranger

'have we met before? ' i said.
'of all the strangers i have chanced upon,
you are by far the most familiar.'

'not sure, my dear, ' she said.
'but are we truly strangers, then?
i feel i've known you all my life.'

'in another time, perhaps? ' i mused.
'surely this is not our first encounter.
we're such a natural fit.'

'well said, my love, ' she reassured.
'i feel you've always been near,
lying somewhere deep within my soul.'

'i'm glad we found ourselves again, ' i smiled.
'it's nice to have found home again, ' she laughed.
'just so', we sighed, 'it all makes sense at last.'
