Familiar Face, Alien Heart Poem by Lilli Singh

Familiar Face, Alien Heart

Familiar face, and yet an alien heart
The embodiment of my one true flame
It ended in tears, devastation, defeat
Not one of us taking the blame

Violet kisses, tender wars
The stereotypes; we broke them all
I built up protection; wasn't gonna get hurt
But somehow you got over my walls

It was insane, it was ludicrous,
But we thought we'd beat the names
It was passion, it was heated
And then, it snuffed the flame

We're still the best of friends
But now; something's amiss
We can laugh and joke all we want
But we both know it wasn't meant to end like this
