False Friendship Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

False Friendship

821. The friendship that is bound not in minds but struck up out
will be smitten at the anvil when occasion comes.
822. The friendship of those who feign the ties of kinship
will change like a fickle-hearted woman.
823. Though they have the mastery of great works
It is difficult for the ignoble to be friends at heart.
824. Beware of the dissemblers! They are all smiles in face
but odious at heart.
825. It is not good in anything to trust people based on their words
when they are not united in minds.
826. Though they speak pleasant words like friends
The malice of their words is known soon.
827. As the bent bow spells out danger
Don’t give ears to the humble words of the hostile foes.
828. The Weapon lies hidden within their folded worshipping hands
And in tears they shed, hides their deceit.
829. Embrace them not in mind who affect friendship outward
And bear insults inward.
830. When foes turn up friends, wear you a smiling face.
Cherish no love at heart and leave it perished there.
