Fallen Soldiers Poem by Tiger Lily Love

Fallen Soldiers

Rating: 5.0

In the long hard battle that never seems to end
I watched each of them fall

Soldiers
Commarades
Allies
Dear sweet friends

As I watched each of them fall I thought
'not another one, no it can't be true'
But what was more devastating
Was that I seemed to be the only one who missed & mourned you

Maybe you didn't fight hard enough
Maybe you just weren't that strong

Or maybe there were signs we didn't see
Maybe you were crying out for help all along

Worst though then watching my closes allies surrender
Is wondering if they were ever in it for the long haul
Or if they were really just pretenders

If even the seemingly strongest soldiers
Can be brought to their knees
Then tell me, What hope is there for me?

Far worst that watching those dear friends lose at this hard fight
Is fearing that one day
You'll join those fallen soldiers in there tombs
Because not even you can see the end of this battle in sight

Although many have fallen, although many have died... their deaths are not in Vain... For they gave the Ultimate, they gave their All... For each and everyone of US... It was Their Duty... It was Their Call. Madame Mickey, This is so very touching, so very real... I know what Sacrifices are needed for US to be Free. Outstanding Write! ! ! ; -) -Kelly.

It's extremely difficult to choose between Memories, Broken Silence, and An Almost Broken Glass Bottle but THIS is definitely my favorite by you. Probably because it's morbid- what can I say, sadness moves me. The saddest words are often the most true. Trust me, you're not the only one who mourns and tombs aren't always sealed indefinitely. I've seen both sides of the issue. Excellent write- thanks for sharing.

Miss M! This poem is so heart-wrenching that I almost teared up. We all have fallen soldiers in our lives I think and it made me think of some of mine. Really excellent job-can't even express how much this moved me.
