Fallen Angel Poem by Brenda Harper

Fallen Angel

Rating: 4.3

I asked the angel why had you fallen?
He replied, because i wanted more.
You had such a lovely life,
why would you throw it out the door?
My hunger needed more.
Why i replied, when you had it all?
He replied, because i felt small
Now i replied,
You struggle everyday.
I know he replied,
I threw my life away.
Ask for forgiveness.
He replied, I cannot today.
I have to earn my wings back,
and it may take eternity.
I felt so very sorry for him.
He said, don't for it was all about me.
Then i turned and walked away,
thinking of his words that very somber day.
Had I become selfish too?
Was i asking too much of you?
Had i fallen from grace,
with too much greed today?
Should I try to even see?
Or should I let well enough be?

Greed and selfishness have their own peril.

Sounds like the story of ANGEL Lucifer, who had everything going so well for him in Heaven, but true it away and consequently is languishing in Hell. A lovely, well articulated and nicely penned piece with a powerful message. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
