Facade Poem by Maya Hanson

Facade

I laugh on a stage
in a place
in a town
where no one knows me.

I smile
as the cloud closes in
I can't breathe anymore.

And the crowd stayed predictable…
They lifted me on their shoulders
and called me marvelous
And I was.

I was a marvelous liar.
