Eye-Openers, Cont. Poem by Morgan Michaels

Eye-Openers, Cont.

I prefer to believe the latter, because I find
The more you believe, the easier it becomes
To believe, that is, and that, operationally,
Doing good for others is the best way to become loved-
Loved and missed and needed, if only in name
And we all want to become that, don't we?
Alas, becoming loved-even that most human of needs
Is apparently an appetite and a goal of contrivance;
In any event, maybe we should wax democratic
And submit the possibilities to a vote-
Which is liklier, which is more desireable-
The world abandonee or the world habituee?
Maybe a very rich woman
Should patronize a television station
That matters may be simplified for the viewers:
Even to the point of unfairness, push
Her own point of view. After all,
You can sell anything you like on TV.
