Extraordinaire Poem by RiNi Joseph

Extraordinaire

You're fifteen,
And you've got your shoulders worn out.
You have your life as a burden.
Can't define what it's all about.
But, you've got yourself,
And you've got your soul.
That's all you need
To get yourself back whole.

You might not believe it,
You might not see;
You might just think that,
It's just me.
But, boy
I know everyday,
With the pain you go through,
You're an extraordinaire.

Your father's last words,
Hurt you more than anything, ever -
He didn't want to see you when he'd die;
The look he gave didn't make you any braver.
Your mother looked away,
When you searched for reason.
You didn't quite know why
But it made you feel like you were freezin'.

You've got no family,
You've got no home.
It took all your guts,
To leave your own home.
Oh, boy,
You couldn't stand it there,
So I don't blame your decisions,
'Cause it makes you an extraordinaire.

You've never had friends,
And that's the way you grew.
The ones that claimed they were,
Used you like a tool.
You did things you were forced to,
You did things you regret.
You did things that haunt you,
You did things that you can't forget.

They call you a shame,
But still made you do it.
They commanded you to do it,
And now you're blamed for it.
Dear boy,
All of it, you did bear
And you still walk today.
You're an extraordinaire.

We've all got our lives
We've all got our sorrow.
But most of us,
Don't want a tomorrow.
But you, oh you
Still live today,
With such a brave heart,
You're an extraordinaire.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Story about a kid who has been manipulated by his so-called 'friends'. His parents don't love him. So he had no option but to run away.
This poem is basically trying to avoid the idea of killing oneself over petty things. This boy, although torn down by a horrible life, he lives for a tomorrow. Thus, he is an extraordinaire.
