~ Expiation

Even the greatest love will sometimes bring you pain.
Forgiveness opens up the door of love again.
I forgave and therein lies the beauty of my love.
Had I not forgiven, would I have the memory of
The love we shared right to the end;
To help me bear that pain again?

A great elegy. Forgiveness is perhaps the highest form of human interaction. In order to bestow we must burn our wounded pride to ashes.

I enjoy all your poems, especially their thoughtful titles. I can see how much you loved Maurice. The lesson of forgiveness is the hardest one to learn, especially forgiving yourself and the people you love(d) .
