Experience Has Left A Stream Of Fiery Poem by Alexis McAfee

Experience Has Left A Stream Of Fiery

experience has left a stream of fiery
atoms flowing through my nerves
carrying positive currents as gateways
open for a gust to encourage more
flames out my mind into my body
beyond physical satisfaction relieving
my fire that eats paper as it consumes
thin strips of parchment turning them
gray as sheets curl black while
ashes of my poetry's past are blown
swirling into string theory of my mind to
cover everything in soot making my heart
beat slowly like a dying butterfly's wings
pumping my brain with mental stimulation
that cannot be synthesized by man's
pollution in order to wash away this
filth that prevents me from preserving my
written work I continue to exhale
taming my inferno to smoking embers
