Expect No Understanding Poem by Colin Breck Boardman

Expect No Understanding

Rating: 5.0

Expect no understanding
In your art;
Your peers in other minds see merely scribbles
As they only search for what their egos owe,
While your family and loved ones think you dribble,
Inept in a cuture they don't know.

Expect no understanding
In your love,
For Venus turns upon a moment's grace
When Cupid's pointed arrow makes a scratch,
And Mars in sated slumber from love's taste
Awakes to find no sweetness in the match.

Expect no understanding
In your life,
As all about you mingle in a mass
Of shameful acts and methods seeming crass,
And through the shallow waters you must wade
Reflecting back your shallowness in shades.
