Exception To The Rule Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Exception To The Rule

Rating: 5.0

Everyone said I would forget you,
And time would gradually diminish
My longing for you into the fading past.
My heart never listened to such dribble but I
Ran head first into endless hours where lights
Were bright and the music played on forever,
Rendered by some sultry voice and mellow saxaphone.
The music always seemed to stop on a high note
and the sound shot like a dagger into the night,
To search for your laughter, your smile, your free spirit.
Forty-one years and it still feels like your
Last good-bye was yesterday.
Your demise, the rule changer in my life's journey.

This is beautiful - yet so very heartbreaking Dorothy. I felt all of the pain. Believe that we all can identify with your words...know i did. i lost someone i loved more than life itself -45 years ago. Glad to hear you're still singing. This is a 10 my friend.
