Exactly Poem by Colin Gilbert

Exactly

The first time I looked beauty in the eyes,
I wanted to pluck them out
and wear them on a necklace
to all the finest parties.
I wanted to be that gorgeous.

During our first date,
I wanted to hold your hand so bad
I almost cut mine off
and threw it at you
to see if you would catch it.

When you said, I love you,
I blushed like a star. I now
understand the emotion of a plane
at dark - to be so big
and feel so small.
