Every Day You Play Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

Every Day You Play

Every day you play
With the light and shadow of my love.
You visit me in my tranquility.
You taunt me in my dreams.

I love you because you are like nobody,
Not who I think you are,
Not who I wish you were,
Not who you would have me believe you could be.

Let me lie with you
On a bed of yellow petals.
Let me write sonnets
On your bare back in gold ink.

Give me something to hold like smoke
When the wind shifts and you drift away
To places you are not ready to let me enter
And I will remain unchanged until you return.

I would rather contend with grave doubts
In the privacy of my own poetry
Than challenge you
To a duel of confidences.

So run from me
Or cling to me.
Chastise me
Or sing to me.

I will remain the savage, solitary soul
That can only be ruled by her moods.
But you do to me what the seasons do
To oak trees blessed with longevity.

In the light; the light of love. With the muse of life. Nice piece of work.
