Everning Prayer Poem by Lewis Eron

Everning Prayer

I was born out of silence
Formed out of stillness
With the first great cry,
'Let there be! '

To exalt and adore you
And at times ignore you
The one ever lonely
As you reach out to me.

I return now to silence
And darkness and stillness
To travel a journey
To bring you to me.

Dear Single Almighty
Behold you surround me.
And flicker around me
The stars and the street lights,
the cars and planes.

My friends they are sleeping
I pray they are keeping
Our daylight promises
still in their dreams.

My Lonely One who gazes on nothing
And envisions all there can be,
Worlds filled with wondrous creatures,
Abounding with mysterious features,
Imagine a small person just like me -
Last created, first commanded
Reach out to the Sacred One, Holy One, Blessed One;
And love the Lonely One, Blessed be He!
