Erased Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Erased

Blank pages
Of my heart,
Lay open...
Someone stole
Each word to teach
Me a lesson, but
Won't tell me what
The lesson is or what
Benefit to me.

I gather words for rhyme but
They slide away, down some
Ice cold slope, crashing into
Nowhere!
Every thought seems insignificant,
Yet I know help is on the way because,
There will be another sunrise!
