Enough Poem by Emmanuel Arunee Mwanza

Enough

I have staggered for years
I have struggled for decades
I have been cheated for years
But now I say enough!

Was I drunk? No I was not
Was I sick? No I was not
Was I ignorant? No I was not
But how did I fail to say, enough is enough!

They noticed I staggered
They noticed my struggles
They knew about it all along
But why did they do nothing about it

Enough of your hypocrisy
Enough of your double standards
Enough of your terrible lies
My people deserve better

So, enough I say
Look at their tears, wipe them with care
Look at their suffering, end it with actions
And that is how I cry as a mother, enough!
