Empty Without You Poem by Liss March

Empty Without You

Sweetheart, why do you cry?
I see you at night and I hold you
Babydoll, have you forgotten me?
You must have... You have no clue.

I watch you cry yourself to sleep
I watch you toss through the night
Then I watch you wake up with a smile on your face
And I see you start to shine.

I stand behind you in front of the mirror
I see you look with disgust
I see you move on through the rest of your day
As a little more of you turns to dust

And with every encounter you shy inside more
With each conversation you fade
Empty words, empty hearts, empty actions...
An empty life at the end of the day.

Why are you letting yourself waste away?
Why do you allow them to win?
I wish I could give you a hug you could feel
My beautiful girl, let me in.

Mother where are you
Do you see me these days?
I wish you could hold me
I wish you had stayed

I can't even look at myself anymore
I can't comprehend who I am
I don't recognize the face that stares back
Or the fake smiles
