Empty Heart

My heart has been so empty
Since you walked away
I used to hope you would forgive me
And come back one day
But now my heart has given up
And knows you won't return
The only thing it feels now
Is a case of heartburn
My mind still remembers
The good times from the past
And never once thought
That they wouldn't last
Photographs of the fun times
That we shared together
Are the only things now
That will last forever
Was it me or was you?
That caused us to break up
I don't suppose it matters now
I have an empty loving cup
No one has ever replaced you
In my cold and empty heart
I'm scared to try and love again
I'm not sure where to start
I know you will never read this
So you won't know how I feel
But I want to say and record the fact
That my love for you was real.
