Empty Boat Poem by Ronald Chapman

Empty Boat

Across a great river,
My heart and my mind live,

In a dream my home country vaguely familiar,
Living in a cold, wet straw covered house,

An empty boat floating on the river,
Thinking of you,

Many times remembering our youth,
Many dreams of you and me floating in the river's mist,

Unable to forget you,
Unable to step into an empty boat without you,

Looking Far to the East,
Hoping my memory,
Will rise in your dreams someday too.
