Emergency Poem by Paige DeRogatis

Emergency

Within an instant, blackened darkness shocks a worn-in heart

Lights of blue and deep red hues swarm in abstract art

Men in white escape a van and surround a frail physique

Silent screams pour from a mouth that's too fragile to speak

Slamming doors create a chilling ripple down the spine

A stream of endless voices collide and intertwine

Entering a sterile palace filled with medicine and hope

Exasperated cries create a dreary way to cope

The beeping of a moniter howls, an elevated tune

A monster they call death is coming for you soon

One last breath of oxygen, and sunken eyelids close

The villain slightly smiles for his next victim he has chose
