Embarrassed Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Embarrassed

Rating: 4.8

It made her feel sad and embarrassed
Situation was so sudden and not assessed
Circumstances too were not so pressed
Emotions ran high and worries suddenly traced

She did hide face and almost wept
No one was ready to look and accept
Was it a good offer or to reject?
Who on the earth is so perfect?

Can’t say she is so ugly
Intelligent but look so homely
Black sports on the rough face
For her, there was no one in the race

Right from the day of her consciousness
She faced all words with seriousness
She was still confident, unmindful of hollowness
Some concrete moves on her part with fineness

Was she ugly and clumsy of her own?
Why people, friends offer and disown?
Is she asking for precious stone or crown?
Only honourable living without any frown

She moved with confidence and boldness
People still frowned and offered coldness
She still surged ahead with disregards to all
It was need of the hour and urgent call

Nothing can shake her zeal and will power
Never looked below but always at peak and tower
Only cowards and weak look with shyness
She was good for all move and bright success

Not all look at and praise outer beauty
It was almighty who did his best duty
Who are we to criticize and insult the person?
I find nothing new with any reason

Someone liked and offered her rose
Was that out come of trust in God she reposed?
Was that the inner strength which prevailed?
All far chances, she thought, must be availed

It is all the inner beauty which matters, still in general we pay lot of importance to the external look.If someone possesses good qualities and confidence, why should she be demeaned, only by virtue of her unimpressive look? But as truly expressed, that is the human tendency in general. We forget to extract the gold in a conglomerate of gold and meretricious articles and bend upon the apparent glitters. The poet has excellently depicted the inner sorrow of a plain looking woman, in lucid words.
