Elegy

Woe be to those who love,
and in loving moments depart
by a thousand roses, farewell!
but melancholy sweet:
all loves betray;
oft beguil'd by beauty's look,
I bring forth these candle-lit stars
against the mirror of thine eye,
that woe-begone in Shelley's river,
makes my heart sink,
when twice I think on thee,
my sweet love of melancholy!
