  The soil holds thee now.
The tombstone now makes
you an anonymous one.
But, you remain alive in my
throbbing heart.

We reap as we die,
but you sown without sin
and yet the Most High
sends you back to the dust.
I kiss the dirt,
can you feel my quivering lips?

You were as astonishing
as the shooting stars.
Your lovemaking overwhelmed
my soul and struck my heart.
We cried in each others arms
as a seed propelled within me.

O, my forlorn heart!
I wake up in the night
and weep when the moon
is full and bright.
We used to converse intimately
under the light of the moon.

You taunted me when
I did not wish upon a star.
O, how foolish you were.
You never failed to make me smile.
You and I have walked many miles
for one another.
But there is no longer a road
that I can take to find you.

I find myself standing alone in the mirror.
You are no longer there to embrace my back
as I dress and stare.
I find myself screaming as I toss the pots and pans.
You can no longer partake of the warm meals
that I prepared before you returned home.
You can no longer say, 'Woman, you have a flawless touch
when it comes to food.'

The floor is dirty.
Why sweep it when your feet no longer
tread the floor?
The dishes are unattended.
Why wash them when my appetite is no more
and you are not here to eat off of them?
My clothes have been unchanged for two weeks.
Why change them when I can please you no more?

O, my dearest, tis not fair to suffer from such loss!
How does one endure?
How does one live when their life lies buried?
How does one fight when their defender has decayed?
How does one escape bitterness when happiness
has turned into a foul smell?
O, my love!
To think that your skin be melted by decay
sends me into deep groans and cries filled with loud sorrow.

Tomorrow the sun shall rise
and I shall wake with an empty side.
Your hand will not be rested upon my hip
as I wake.
Your head will not be close to mine
as the rays of morn penetrate my eyelids.
Tomorrow the dove shall cry
as it has since you've passed.
And I shall weep as well.
