Elapsed Time Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Elapsed Time

Growth of a tree
Shows progress of time
Flow of a river
Is movement of time.

Face of a mighty
Receding glacier
Keeps nature's record
Of track of time.

Fold on the skin
Bald on the head
Hair turning gray
Are traces of time.

Falling of a leaf
Or flapping of the wing
Or swing of the branch
Is an indicator of time.

Inimitable Galileo used
The pulse of his heart
To measure the period
Of a hanging chandelier.

Vibrations thus led
To making the clocks
From spring loaded ones
To quartz crystal based.

Time keeps on ticking
As man attempts to count
A measure of time elapsed
Using devices many kinds.
