Eighteen To Eighteen Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Eighteen To Eighteen

Eighteen to eighteen

"Either mine or no one's! "
Seems to be word of mouth.

"Was eighteen and obsessed, "
Reads news of young man
"Bavaria of Germans."

He took gun and ambushed
"He was shy...", "shot fast-food, "
"All he said was a ‘hi'…"

Same old same
Same and same and the same, repeated
In Ottawa's killer, so many examples
From the dismembered Chinese girl
To truck in France; poor People
And airline's Co-pilot

Same old same
Same and same and the same
Repeated
Gays' club… and schools
The same with many names…
This disease and sickness
Won't be last, was not first,
Its root is Internet, contagious.

Where are we? What we want?
Earphones, phones and texts
Selfishly isolate in ourselves
Laughing at, hell with rest
And the gun and murder
Surely will not be last
Duplicates repeated
It wasn't the start
Where are we?
Heading to?
Our eighteen
Their eighteen
Wonder lies in
Changes…
