Early Morning Poem by Itai Oscar

Early Morning

Early this morning
while the dew was still carpeting the face of the earth
I climbed the mountain of joy
turned my head eastward
and watched the reddish horizon
I saw the sun slowly coming out
its smile gave me hope
its golden rays piercing the face of the earth
causing every drop of the dew to disappear
joy filled my heart
I've seen another day
I took a deep breath
whispered a prayer of thanks
opened my arms wide
and embraced another day
with a dance in my walk
I went towards my destiny

A RiffEarly morning I climbed the mountain tract Stepping over the wet dew earth My eyes ahead, not looking back; The sun a burning orb Lifted its orange lamp The rocks and trees absorbed The airs of liquid damp; I spread my out-stretched arms To the valley that lay before Overwhelmed by Nature’s charm. Feeing somehow assured. Give me this day, my daily bread, And I will step where no foot has tread, Shining smiles on all I meet I sniff the air, the air smells sweet.
