Dying Angles Poem by Kathryn Garner

Dying Angles

Rating: 5.0

And I go giving away my life
Knowing this is the best way to survive
I see those angels and I cry
For a world that’s gone and died
I see in the flutter from you heart
Its better to let this fall apart
I know you lay awake at night
Knowing were losing the fight
Saying that things will pull through
Though you don’t know what to do

I see those angels in the sky
As I look down where you lie
Were growing cold with no intake
I've got the feeling we might break
As I gaze into you lonely eyes
Hoping we will and wont rise
I see these things upon our skin
And how the world starts and then begins to end

I turn to the pages of your dreams
But all I’m finding are your screams
And I watch that one glistening tear
Start and kill our biggest fear
I see the fingertips of hurt
And ponder the best and the worst
Then we take on the final kill
Trying to gain and lose our will

I see those angels slowly die
As we both beg and wonder why
Both turn away with our pain
And go play this game of shame
This is what our lives our built upon
And now it’s hopeless, cold, and gone
So I turn to this empty song

I killed those angels in the sky
And now I’m regretting that they died
As I look back at what’s been
And this is a most beautiful end
Turning to drugs to seize this pain
Because our lives wont be the same
We will wallow in this shame

Seize this pain
Wallow in this shame
A cause for our faults
And this is all that’s left of me
Hating myself for what I couldn’t be
Seize this pain
Hold the reins
And drive to death
For love have lost the last bet
And now were suffocating under this regret
