Duty To Protect Poem by DAUGHTER OF A CRACKED MIND

Duty To Protect

Rating: 4.0

Mother, you were supposed to protect
Instead you closed your eyes

Did you think if you could not see
You would be guilt free
Or was your child just regret?

Mother, you were supposed to protect
hold tight in your arms

Keep safe from harm
Your child, your precious little charm

Mother, did you think you could forget?
Your duty was to protect

Instead you discarded
as if there was no meaning to the words

Duty to protect
