Drifting Away, The Girl He Dreams Of Poem by Johnny Smith

Drifting Away, The Girl He Dreams Of

The screaming and shouting is falling from his eyes
Tears ripping through the flesh from the pain
Burning his lips with hatred, and filling his thoughts with sorrow
A meaningless death becomes a sure thing
Old memories flare only intensifying the pain you've brought upon his soul
The bonds they had shattered as the tears go crashing to the floor
As he tries to catch, hide and fix 'em all
He's now a Fallen angel, stripped of angelic power
You took it from him, and he gave it to you, hour by hour
Every night, a sleepless night
A dream to wake him every minute
A dream of a girl so awe inspiring, nightmare should never follow her name
Yet he wakes, in terror and shrills, tossing and turning
Thrashing, bashing, burning, and slashing His bed and belongings
All the sorrow flowing from his majestic hands
All the rage released in the Shouts of pain, Why He cries as the sun rises
Every day, soullessly traversed
To school he goes, from school he returns
Everyday back and forth, humans a creature of habit
He has none, no plans, only hopes and dreams
All gone, his hopes, all gone, his dreams
All he dreams of is Her, now she's drifting away in more than just the dreams
Becoming Nothing more than a memory
He will forever be lost in the abyss that is Her
