Dreams We Had Poem by Spiritwind Wood

It took so long to find a way
to not hold on and let you go
just to turn and walk away
from a love that would never show
of dreams we had that were no more

The pain wanted to remain and stay
when neither had in us the trust
and nothing was left between us
all we had was forever lost
to what we once use to know
and in the end both paid the cost

The dreams we had of long ago
were now no longer there for you
and we both had to do what we must
to find another way to make it through
when the tears wouldn't fall anymore

We both been down this road before
and it has brought us nothing new
sometimes those dreams we had
at times were only meant to make us sad
knowing that after all is done and said
love was a fading flame burning our bed
