Dreams In A Ball Park Poem by Michael Peterson

Dreams In A Ball Park

Beautiful place, freshly groomed
Fields all fenced in, benches painted new
Lines chalked in, bases in place
Waiting for the kids to arrive
To make dreams come true
The gates opened wide
The concession stand stocked full of goodies
Cars arriving, families pouring out
Kids screaming in joy, parents chatting
Unloading the gear for them to play
Kids in uniforms, all different colors
Enjoying the moment, before the battle
Talking baseball, comparing stories
Parents setting up chairs along the base lines
For a view of their star player, son or daughter
Warming up, playing catch, all in a line
Practice swinging for a that real big hit
Acting like big time players
Chewing big wads of gum
Hamming for the family camera
Stretching before the game
Gathering for the coaches pep talk
Lining the foul line for the Anthem
Looking around for mom and dad
To the dugout and to the field
Looking like a pro on the field
Retrieving grounders, throwing to first
All ready for the big game
Win or lose it's all in fun
A day at the park to play ball
Brings out the kid in all of us
