Dreams And Sleep Poem by Edwina Reizer

Dreams And Sleep

I say I dream. You say you don't.
I say I'll dream. You say you won't.
You sleep all night like death in bed.
I have dreams running through my head.

It seems not fair that all these dreams
should come each night to me.
You're a mere two feet from where I sleep
and no dream lets your mind be free.

My dreams are more frequent the older I get.
Your sleep is more peaceful the older you get.
And yet
I'd miss my dreams that take me far.
You'd miss your sleep in bed where you are.

And so I will dream and you shall sleep.
But maybe someday my dreams will cease.
You'll be the one that dreams at night
And I, my love will sleep in peace.
