Dreaming Of My Pets Poem by norman hale

Dreaming Of My Pets

Dreaming back in time
Back when I was a kid
Thinking of all the troubles I had
And all the things I did

I had russian tumbler pigeons
That would fly way up in the sky, and then
Tumble their way towards the ground
And then take off flying over again

I had a couple of red fox
That I never could get tame
But very clever little things
Yet pretty all the same

I had lots of raccoons
Some that did tricks, no lie
I had a female that would roll over
The male would slap you ten or five

I had a couple of male skunks
That knew their names as sam and blacky
I could pick them up, and they would lick me
Some folks thought I was a bit wacky

I had some fox squirrels and a mink
That would sit upon my shoulder
Then nibble at my ear till I'd say 'I'm goin to get ya! '
And they would take off running for the border

I had some flying squirrels
That stayed in a pen in the house
We would catch big millers and put them in there
It was better than watching a cat chasing a mouse
