Dragons Of The Night Poem by David Harris

Dragons Of The Night

We make monsters in our head
to scare us in our sleep.
Dragons in the night
that haunt our dreams,
but in reality we know
there is nothing there.
Our nightmares is our imagination
playing tricks on our mind,
but when we awake
we find nothing there.
We're told tales when we were young
that if we did not behave
the bogey man or such
would come and claim us,
but they were only stories.
Yet we believed them to be true
and remembered them as we grew
as dragons in the night.
